Lot description Show orginal version
Emblem of the Republic of Poland from 1927-1945. tri-color lithograph, paper. Dimensions: 42 x 32 cm. Condition: folds, waviness of paper on margins.

On December 13, 1927 a decree of the President of the Republic of Poland Ignacy Moscicki introduced a new design of the national emblem. The author of the competition design was Zygmunt Kaminski, professor of architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. The artist used the image of the Batorian eagle, especially from the tomb monument of King Stephen in Wawel Cathedral. Professor Kaminski strongly modified the emblem itself significantly, the shape of which he inscribed in a circle. The band on the eagle's chest, with a golden open crown, ended in five-pointed rosettes. The rectangular shield was edged with a gold border. [after pwn.pl].
