She was a French illustrator and cartoonist. She is best known for her erotic illustrations for the works of Pierre Louÿs, Alfred de Musset and Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. According to the Benezit Dictionary of Artists, Ballivet is considered a "pioneer" of erotic book illustration in the 20th century.
