The author's composition and title (Latin: will not sink) refers to Ferdinand Ruszczyc's famous painting Nec Mergitur from 1904. Who in turn was inspired by Henryk Sienkiewicz's novella "The Sailor's Legend." Symbolizing Poland, the ship sails adrift on the crest of a foamy wave. The dangerous element of the sea should be treated here as a personification of the element of history carrying in its current the ship - Poland, lonely, heroic, despite the storms and disasters it has been through, heading for the home port. The title "for the second time" refers to the time when the print was created (1942), when Poland was once again faced with the cataclysm of occupation.
