Stanislaw Dawski (1905, Dorohusk - 1990, Warsaw) - studied from 1932-1939 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he graduated in painting from Prof. Felicjan Szczęsny Kowarski and in graphic design from Prof. Leon Wyczółkowski and Stanisław Ostoja-Chrostowski. After World War II, he moved to Wroclaw. He was one of the founders of the Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw and began working there as a lecturer, and later served as rector from 1952 to 1965. He established the school's Glass Department and led the Department of Artistic Glass. In 1970, he moved to Warsaw and began working as a professor at the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts.As an artist, he was primarily engaged in easel painting and printmaking, occasionally sculpture, glass and artistic ceramics. Until the 1950s, his work was associated with figurative art. Over the years, he became more interested in abstraction: first geometric, and in the 1970s and 1980s biological abstraction.
