Biography
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Ignacy Pienkowski and Teodor Axentowicz. He received his diploma in 1931. He continued his studies with Jozef Pankiewicz in Paris, 1934-35. During the interwar period, he exhibited at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow and the Institute of Art Propaganda in Warsaw. Abroad, he exhibited in Venice, Pittsburgh, Paris and New York. After the war, he took over the Chair of Painting and the Department of Figural Composition, which placed great emphasis on in-depth studies from nature, at the University of Torun. Subsequently, he was associated with the art community in Lodz. Since 1953, he taught at the Department of Painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk (now the Academy of Fine Arts).
