Ludwig Moritz Achatius zu Dohna-Schlobitten was a Prussian aristocrat from a family whose main residence was a palace in the village of Slobity (Schlobitten), now located in Braniewo County (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). As an officer in the Prussian army, he fought against the Poles (in 1794) and Napoleonic France. In 1807 he participated in the defense of Danzig and was awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite. In 1813 he participated in the siege of Danzig by Russian-Prussian forces.
