Slawomir Christow (born 1976) - Polish-Bulgarian artist with oriental roots. Draughtsman, painter and graphic artist born in Varna. From 1992 to 1995 he was a student of Yavor Tsanev, a Bulgarian painter and printmaker. From 1996 to 2001 he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He received his diploma in the woodcut studio of Prof. Zbigniew Lutomski. He has participated in many group exhibitions, both in Poland and abroad.
An artist who is open to the world of symbols and myths, in addition to his graphic work he also does painting, usually in the traditional technique of egg tempera, watercolor and gouache. In his work, he refers to archetypes and signs deeply rooted in our imagination, while combining many eras and cultures. Fascinated by the Italian Quattrocento and Mongolian Indian painting, among others, he creates his own unique world, referring to the painting traditions of East and West. He is a two-time winner of the NGM Grand Prix in Cracow and the Creative Scholarship of the City of Cracow. Chrystow's works have been exhibited in Rome, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, and the palace in Łańcut, among other places.
