colored crayon, paper, 27 x 39 and 19 x 42 cm. On one of the drawings an old stamp indicating its origin from Wenban's studio. Both works mounted spot on cardboard. Good condition, the drawing in brown has a doctored lower right corner.
S.L.Wenban, painter and printmaker, was born in the USA and studied at the Academy in N.York. He went on an aristocratic tour of the academies of Scotland, London and Paris before settling permanently in Munich studying at the Academy. At the time, Joseph Brand and Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski were already in Munich. Wenban in 1892 founded the "Secession" association with artists to promote a new direction in art. In 1931, a major exhibition of his works was held in Munich. Raiffeisen Bank has the largest collection of works by this artist
