A work from a series of 80 prints constituting Dali's artistic commentary on as many copperplates by Francisco Goya, which were published in 1799 under the common title "Caprices."
The leitmotif of the series was the title of engraving No. 43 "When reason sleeps, demons awaken." Goya's work has fascinated and inspired subsequent generations. In 1973-77 Dali reinterpreted the copperplate engravings of his famous compatriot. In doing so, he used the technique of dry needlework, adding colorful elements, characteristic of his work, which break the monochromatic nature of Goya's depictions. An engraving work was made based on his engravings, after which Dali reworked these motifs using the dry needle technique. Work No. 28 in Dali's series was created by creatively developing Goya's copperplate engraving No. 28, titled. "Quiet."
The total print run was 220 copies, of which 200 copies. (1-200), and 20 (EA).
