Dali came up with the idea for Babaouo's surrealist film in 1932. This work restores the original concept of the unrealized film, based on the adventures of the character Babaouo.
At the time of the original conception, Babaouo was intended to be a surrealist film. Soft watches, without dials, flaming giraffes, paranoid images and Art Nouveau aesthetics are just some of the characteristic elements that permeate the atmosphere of Babaouo from beginning to end.
Babaouo - the word means something like "fool" or "innocent" - is portrayed as a conventional story, with a beginning and an end, but full of strange and irrational events that continually descend into the linear development of the plot. The film is set, as Dalí indicated in the script, "in 1934 in any country in Europe, during the civil war."
