studied painting at the State Higher School of Visual Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdansk, in the ateliers of Professor Stanislaw Teisseyre and Professor Krystyna Lada-Studnicka, and printmaking in the atelier of Professor Zygmunt Karolak. He received his diploma in 1958. After graduation, he practiced painting and ceramics - but primarily printmaking. He was a master in this field. Until his death in 1997 he lived and worked in Gdansk, fascinated by its Old Town. Traces of this fascination can be seen in many of his works, created most often in etching and copperplate techniques.
