Ryszard Gieryszewski (1936-2021) studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studios of Aleksander Kobzdej and Andrzej Rudzinski from 1959 to 1964. The artist was a member of the International Association of Wood Engravers XYLON in Switzerland. He received numerous awards, including 2nd prize in the "Best Graphic of the Year 1977" competition in Warsaw, 2nd prize and silver medal at the 6th J. Gielniak National Graphic Competition in Jelenia Gora (1983), Grand Prix at the 4th Quadriennale of Polish Woodcut and Linocut in Olsztyn (1987). He had about 20 solo exhibitions, his works are in the collections of, among others, the National Museum in Warsaw.
