The author of the work is Rafał Olbiński (b. 1943), considered one of the most outstanding Polish contemporary painters and printmakers. His metaphorical and poetic paintings have won him worldwide recognition. In exile since 1981, he has been a lecturer at the School of Fine Arts in New York since 1985.
