etching, aquatint, plate size 37 x 32 cm, sheet size 49 x 43 cm, signed at the bottom in ink "Paul Paeschke"

Work by the prominent painter and printmaker, member of the German Artists' Association in Weimar, the Berlin Secession and the Berlin Artists' Association Paul Paeschke (1875 - 1943). At the First Art Exhibition in Berlin in 1905, he showed his graphic works of unmistakable Art Nouveau character with considerable success. From this early period of his work comes the graphics on display. Undoubtedly, the way of depicting nature is close to the work of Max Libermann and Max Slevogt, which was an extremely important reference for Paul Paeschke. The somewhat stylized, full of flowing lines landscape with a road among birch trees captures the spirit of Art Nouveau - the time of its creation.
