"This is a study sketch typical of the late, declining period of the artist's oeuvre, in a characteristic composition layout - a fleeing street in perspective with a row of houses on the sides ending with a church block. The artist's nailing of the seal on the reverse of the painting should be seen as the end of the work, so it is not just a sketch for a watercolor. The imprints of both stamps are original and are a round stamp of the "Nikifor the Bishop" type (one of three of this type) and a "Rectangular Large" stamp (the artist's own nomenclature). Both stamps were created around 1957, and their slight wear suggests a drawing date of the early years around the 1960s. From the signature of the author's ruler, it can be deduced that this is probably about one of the churches in Cracow; such a conclusion should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it is probable." - Bogdan Karski, expert on Nikifor Krynicki's work
