Jean Giono (born March 30, 1895 in Manosque, died October 8, 1970 there) - French writer. In the early period of his work he came close to pantheism. In his novels he showed the relationship between human life and nature and preached the necessity of a return to nature, among others, the cycle Pan, or The Great Flock. In 1954 he became a member of the Goncourt Academy (Académie Goncourt). He chaired the jury for the main competition at the 14th Cannes IFF (1961). He also served on the jury at the 19th Cannes IFF (1966).
André Salmon (born October 4, 1881 in Paris-died March 12, 1969, in Sanary-sur-Mer) is a French poet, art critic and writer. Along with Guillaume Apollinaire, promoter and defender of Cubist art [after: Wikipedia with changes].
