Mieczyslaw Wejman - (1912-1997), graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Cracow, was involved in printmaking and painting as well as pedagogical activities. He was director of the Higher School of Fine Arts in Cracow, professor and twice rector of the Academy. He was a member of the "9 Graphic Artists" group in Cracow. He participated in numerous exhibitions, at home and abroad. Winner of a number of awards including: at the Graphics Biennale in Ljubljana, Krakow, Madrid, the Essen Critics' Prize. He was a co-founder (then Biennale) of the International Triennial of Graphics in Krakow. He is considered the initiator of the trend of metaphorical graphics, distinguishing the "Cracow school of graphics".
