Mariusz WARAS (pseud. M-city)
World-renowned, extremely talented graphic designer, exterior painter, traveler, amateur architect. Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, where he was an assistant to Prof. Jerzy Ostrogórski in the painting studio. Author of several hundred murals as part of the author's m-city project. The main motif in his work is urban landscape. Works can be seen in Warsaw, Gdansk, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bolzano, London, Prague, among other galleries. In his spare time, he is the curator of the 238x504cm billboard gallery in Gdynia and an archivist/collector of Polish street art. Professionally a graphic designer, associated with the Academy of Art in Szczecin, awarded in competitions many times.
10x10 - DECADE - ten years of m-city. The artist tries to capture the continuous development, pushing the boundaries of imagination and techniques, closing each year of his work with one serigraph.
2004 - Mariusz Waras' Tricity studio fills with stencils of houses, which he begins to arrange into simple open cities.
2005 - the history of the world with its emerging civilization, decline and development, arranges the houses in simple geometric forms, objects one on top of the other.
2006 year - the objects show differences in size and perspective due to scale.
2007 - builds geometric figures, is close to signs, typography, graffiti.
2008 - Factory - arranges compositions that are quite chaotic, swamping them in strange shapes foreign to themselves.
2009 - Giant factories dominating the landscape - houses become the background, the main motif appears in a different perspective with a point of confluence.
2010 - Pneumatic Objects - two-dimensional objects dominate, with small elements of three-dimensional objects.
2011 - Flat objects set on the principle of closer - further.
2012 - two-dimensional objects in perspective.
2013 - simplification of objects, no modules.
