Original lithograph/vellum paper, 37 x 55.5 cm
Marc ChagallLe Concert (Concert), original lithograph, 1957.Size: 56 x 38 cm, smooth velour paper, Atelier Mourlot for Maeght Editions in Paris.
Marc Chagall was a great lover of music, which often inspired his works. Not only did the artist create the famous ceiling of the Paris Opera House, but he also returned to the theme of music in many of his original lithographs and engravings. In this delicately drawn lithograph from 1957, one can discover many details: people singing in the chorus or playing instruments, surrounded by typical "Chagall animals" and an audience listening to the concert. All this takes place at the Paris Opera House, which is easily recognized by the Eiffel Tower sketched in the right part of the painting.
