Leonor Fini
(1907-1996) was an Argentine-Italian-French painter, printmaker, set and costume designer, best known for her surrealist art, which often explored themes of femininity, eroticism and mythology. She was born in Buenos Aires, but spent most of her life in Europe, mainly in France. She was self-taught and became part of the Parisian art world, where she made connections with the likes of Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso. Fini excelled in the surrealist movement, creating paintings in which strong, mysterious women often dominated the narrative, reflecting her fascination with female power and independence.
