Jean Baptiste Le Prince, French painter and printmaker, pupil of Boucher, created historical scenes, landscapes and portraits. He is considered the creator of a new graphic technique, aquatint, in which he achieved mastery. Between 1758 and 1764, he traveled to Russia, where his most important works were created, documenting daily life, customs and costumes. His oeuvre also includes works on Polish themes - the offered engraving shows a Polish Janczar against the background of a military camp. Slights of dampstain and soiling. 9277/10
