Kojima Tokujiro (1912- 1996) although best known for his kimono and obi designs, was active as a printmaker. He also practiced stencil painting. As an example of "folk" art, the graphic manner of his imagery contrasts sharply with the more familiar style of Japanese ukiyo-e printmaking. The graphic is from a unique calendar designed by Kojima, printed on Japanese washi paper. There are no days of the week or month numbers in this calendar. It shows 12 months with representations of Japanese seasonal symbols and nature.
