Podsadecki Kazimierz (1904-70): painter, graphic artist, illustrator, associated with the Krakow avant-garde; from 1926 he was a member of the "Praesens" group, from that year he was responsible for the graphic design of "Zwrotnica"; from 1928 he cooperated with the "Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny" concern; he fought in the 1939 September campaign, after which he was taken prisoner; in l. 1945-51 he lived in Szczecin, from 1952 in Cracow; created constructivist paintings, photo-collages (series American America, 1932; series A is my project of the Illustrated Weekly, 1933; Gestures, 1933) and photomontages (Charlie's Caricatures, 1932-34); his postwar works are characterized by freedom of composition, rich colors and dynamic forms; realized landscapes (Quarry in Mydlniki, 1962) and still lifes, usually with rich colors, as well as drawn nudes (Nude of a Woman, 1964; Nude of a Sitting Woman, 1964; Nude of a Lying Woman, 1964); he also designed typographic layouts for books.
