Jerzy SOSZYŃSKI-OSTOYA (Georges D'OSTOYA) - Polish painter, illustrator, illustrator, caricaturist, writer and translator into French; at the age of 16 he enlisted in the Foreign Legion. During his military service he went to Turkey, and in 1900 settled in Paris. In France, he joined the Polish leftist emigration. He published his works in the Polish press under his own name, while in the French press under the pseudonym "Georges d'Ostoya." The influence of Austrian cartoonist Eduard Thöny is evident in his drawings. In 1908-1909, he illustrated two pamphlets by anarchist Jozef Zielinski, published in Paris. From 1908 he collaborated with the satirical weekly "L'Assiette au beurre." In 1913, under the pseudonym "Georges d'Ostoya," he published the novel "L'amour d'une Russe." During the First World War, he published numerous anti-German caricatures in the French press [after: Wikipedia with changes].
