Janusz Maria BRZESKI -painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, and an outstanding creator of artistic photography. He was educated at the School of Decorative Arts in Poznań, and traveled in France and Italy as a scholarship student. He had his first exhibition in Poznań in 1928, and soon left for Paris, where he painted, created photomontages and designed magazine covers. Since 1933 he has been a member of the Artists' Guild "Jednoróg", and has exhibited a lot in Cracow, Warsaw and Lvov. After the war, he designed, among other things, the first cover of "Przekroj" and the magazine's permanent vignette. Brzeski's work related to photography - photomontages, collages - found its way to the world's largest museums after his death, in the 1980s, and to major international exhibitions (Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris).
