Trained as a computer scientist and filmmaker, he taught himself animation and graphics. To take up not only programming, but also art, he was persuaded during his studies, by Professor Krzysztof Kiwerski. When the first paintings went abroad, collectors didn't know what is "Halny?" They thought it was an abbreviation of the American name "Hal" and "NY" (New York), because it was in this city that Halny's first works appeared. The French press called him a "talented New York artist" after he created a series of portraits of New York dancers; his next project was prints for a Broadway play. Thus, Polish local Halny became international Halny and conquers the world through New York, with his prints and paintings finding their way onto the walls of Hollywood, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Geneva and many other cities.
