View of the French fleet leaving the port of Cherbourg on July 24, 1870, at the beginning of the Franco-Prussian War. On August 2, the ships sailed to the Baltic to blockade German ports. Below the composition a description of the event in French , all the ships are signed. Lithograph from the series "Le flotte de nos jours" (The fleet of our time), signed, based on a painting by Antoine Leon Morel-Fatio (1810-1871), French marine painter, official painter of the French fleet (who died of a heart attack while seeing Prussian troops attacking the Louvre). In the lower margin, stamped by a marshal from Toulon. Graphic after conservation.
