Lot description Show orginal version

B.t. drawing depicts a hydra attacking a medieval town and devouring the inhabitants, a ship (Santa Maria K. Columbus?) can be seen in the background. Ink drawing, signed on the right, on a sheet measuring 20.3 x 26.7 cm.
Condition: minor soiling and creases, small understamped crack(with discoloration from glue), several corrections in white gouache, lower right corner, in pencil: 4.

Jerzy Flisak (1930-2008 Warsaw) - cartoonist, illustrator, poster designer, set designer. Graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology (1953). His drawings were published in Szpilki (here he made his debut in 1958), Świerszczyk, Polityka, Świat weekly, Przegląd Kulturalny. Since 1950, he served as graphic editor of the weekly Szpilki. Awards:
-1961 award of the Minister of Culture for satirical works
-1962 Art Direktors Club award for the poster for the film "Najemny morderca"
