SOMMERFELD Elias Daniel [1681-1742] aristocrat, clergyman, auxiliary bishop of Breslau from 1714. He graduated from the college in Glogow [humanities], continued his studies in Wroclaw [philosophy], and completed his theological studies in Rome, where he was ordained a priest in 1704. In early 1714 he became rector of the Seminary, and on June 13 was appointed titular bishop of Leontopolis and suffragan of Wroclaw by Pope Clement XI. He received the episcopal sacra on June 11, 1714 in Vienna. He died in 1742 in Breslau and was buried in the cathedral there.
