Inscribed at the bottom: 'Rafael Sanzio d'Urb. inv. Gravé par Bourgeois, ancien Pensionnaire de la Ville d'Amiens. Terminé par N. Tomas | Ora Prima di Notte'; comes from a series of 12 engravings based on the decoration of the vault of the Borgia Room in the Vatican Palace - this decoration was based on Raphael's designs; the work, for unknown reasons, engraved by an unknown by name (probably Nicolas) French engraver named Tomas.
