Edvard Munch - born in 1863 in Loten, Norway. Painter, graphic artist. His father held the position of military doctor, his mother died when he was still a child. During his childhood, his sister also dies, which has a great influence on the formation of his personality, both as a person and also as an artist. He took drawing lessons in what is now Oslo, and the scholarship he received allowed him to go to Paris. Upon his return, he exhibited his works in the Norwegian capital. They aroused the interest of the painter Adelsteen Normann. who invited Munch to visit him, where his paintings caused a scandal at an exhibition in Berlin. He spent a good part of his life in Germany, France and Italy, before settling in Norway due to illness. He was a pioneer of printmaking, often using elements of color graphics. He died in 1944 in Aker, today's part of Oslo.
