Edmund Ludwik Bartłomiejczyk - In Cracow, he studied under Jan Stanislawski and Wojciech Weiss from 1906-1909. Then - in 1910-1913 - he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1918 the Competition for Postal Brands of the Kingdom of Poland was held. It was organized by the Warsaw Art Society, which won the right to purchase selected works and use them to issue postage stamps immediately after Poland regained its independence. Most of his designs were qualified for issuance and were issued the following year. In 1921, he again entered a philatelic competition, this time for new postage stamps in future currency, announced by the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. He submitted ten designs, five of which won first or second prizes. In 1925 he joined the newly founded Association of Polish Graphic Artists "Ryt" by Professors Władysław Skoczylas and Ludwik Gardowski.In 1917-1930 he taught at the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. He was also a professor at the School of Fine Arts, which was renamed the Academy of Fine Arts in 1932. From 1930 he led the Department of Applied Graphics there. After World War II, he reorganized the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He was its professor until 1950, and pro-rector from 1945-1946.
