Lot description

The woodcut depicts the ceremony of 'handing over banners with eagles', which was initiated by Napoleon I Bonaparte, who wanted to revive the traditions of the Roman Empire.

This beautiful woodcut dates from the reign of Napoleon III Bonaparte (as Emperor of France, 1852-1870).

Framed in an elegant passe-partout, and a wooden frame with glass, with cardboard backing.

Overall dimensions: 380 mm x 440 mm

Excellent condition.
