Daniel Chodowiecki (1726 - 1801) was a draughtsman, painter, illustrator and printmaker, born in Gdansk and died in Berlin as director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts there. The author of more than 3,000 drawings and engravings that are a capital illustration of his contemporary times, unabashedly humorous and sometimes even caricatured. He is also a painter and illustrator, author of historical scenes from the history of the Seven Years' War, among others.
Presented four mininatures - genre scenes of a narrative nature show characters in interiors and their mutual relations - a lady of the house and a maid, a lady at the dressing table, a conversation between a couple of wealthy people in the living room, two elegant men....
