Chaim Goldberg (1917-2004), Polish painter, sculptor and printmaker of Jewish origin, was born and raised in Kazimierz, to which he returned in his work until the end of his life. In the 1930s he studied at the Cracow Academy, then continued his studies in Paris after the war. From 1955 he settled in Israel, and in 1967 settled in the United States. His work, revisiting the non-existent world of the shtetls, brought him great popularity, and Goldberg's works are now in the world's leading museums.
