Andrzej Pietsch (1932-2010) - graphic artist, mountaineer and mountaineer. Born in 1932 in Cracow, where he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1951-58 diploma under Prof. Mieczyslaw Wejman). In 1986 he was awarded the title of full professor. He cooperated with several other universities in the country (including Poznań, Katowice, Lublin, Cieszyn), and was pro-rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1972-78. Until 1999, he had about 70 solo exhibitions, including about half abroad, and participated in more than 200 group exhibitions. Over time, he became one of the most respected Polish graphic artists, receiving international honors since 1966. He was involved in intaglio, among other things, and created prints in several series, such as "Actresses" (from 1964), "Travelers" and "Travels" (from 1966), "Grasses" (from 1984), as well as (especially earlier) mountain motifs. He also became a respected didactician (by 2000, eight of his students had become professors, and more than 170 students had completed their diplomas under his guidance). Participant of many competition boards. Co-organizer of the club of cultural creators "Kuźnica" In 1969 he received the award of the Ministry of Culture and Art of the Third Degree, was the recipient of the Art Prize of the City of Cracow (1974) and the Prize of the Minister of Culture and Art (1975), as well as other prizes and awards, among others at the MBG in Cracow (1966,1968,1970), at the International Biennial of Graphics in Bradford (1976) and Fredrikstad (1984). In 1999 he won the Equal Prize at the Biennale of Small Graphic Forms in Lodz. Died November 30, 2010/ Buried at Rakowicki Cemetery in Cracow (lane 79, west row).
