Andrzej Matuszewski (1924 - 2008) is a painter, happener, art theorist and critic. He earned his diploma at the Poznan State Higher School of Fine Arts in the studio of Waclaw Taranczewski in 1949. Founder and member of the R-55 Group - the first post-war art group that laid the foundation for the development of modern contemporary art in Poland. A pioneer of new trends and a visionary heading towards conceptual art, performance and philosophy of art. His works are in all major collections of modern art in Poland.
