Biography
The two twin sisters, Alicja and Bożena Wahl, were born in Warsaw and graduated from the Painting Department of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Eugeniusz Eibisch in 1957. In the 1970s, they collaborated with the weekly magazine "Kultura" and with publishing houses as illustrators and cartoonists. They also designed set designs for TV Theater productions. The sisters practice painting, printmaking and drawing. For many years they did not sign their works, treating them as joint works. They organized the first show of their paintings in 1979, on the occasion of the opening of their own gallery. At the center of the sisters' interest is man caught up in the dramas of life. Alicia's work is more sombre and dramatic in its expression. Since the 1990s, Alicja's works have featured landscape.
