Alfred Zenon Wiktor Schouppé (born December 23, 1812 in Grabownica Starzeńska, died April 15, 1899 in Krynica[1]). - Polish painter, author of Tatra landscapes.He was a pupil of Jan Nepomucen Glowacki in Krakow and Jozef Richter in Warsaw. In 1837, thanks to a government scholarship, he went to study at the Academy of St. Luke in Rome, where he studied under Tommaso Mindardi. He returned to Warsaw in 1840 and traveled extensively abroad, leaving Warsaw after his retirement in 1897. He was in the Tatra Mountains almost every year. His Tatra landscapes are characterized by poeticism and idealism. He also painted religious paintings and worked as an illustrator in collaboration with Juliusz Kossak.One of the founders of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw.He dealt mainly with landscapes, although initially he also painted religious paintings. He was one of the first to paint Tatra landscapes. He collaborated with Juliusz Kossak in making illustrations.
