linocut on paper, 70x100 cm
Aleksandra Prusinowska was born in 1986 in Gdynia. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. She earned her diploma in the painting studio of Prof. Maciej Swieszewski with an annex in linocut led by Prof. Czeslaw Tumielewicz. The main areas of her work are painting and artistic printmaking. In her works, she likes to draw on pop-culture patterns, referring to films, advertisements, press photos, as well as comic books, with their inherent way of framing. The means of expression used by the artist refer to the collage technique. Her paintings often feature the motif of a woman, presented on the verge of hyperrealism. The female figure occupies an important place in the artist's works. Shown on the border between dream and java, innocent and unpredictable, in colorful, decorative and conventionally depicted interiors, vulnerable and yet unpredictable. She has received multiple grants from cultural, scientific and local government institutions, including the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and has won prestigious awards.
