Zulawski Marek - POLAND FIRST TO FIGHT. [1939/1940]. Offset lithograph / paper. Dimensions: 74.5 x 49.5 cm. Poster after conservation. Minor "chipping" in l.g. margin (no damage to comp.).

Marek Zulawski (1908-1985) was the son of Jerzy Zulawski (1874-1915), a writer of the Young Poland period and a soldier of the Legions. Marek Zulawski was a painter, graphic artist, and in the interwar period a representative of Post-Impressionism. The future artist spent his childhood in Zakopane, and graduated from high school in Torun. He was a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1933), a student of Prof. Karol Tiche, as well as Felicjan Kowarski and Leonard Pękalski. In 1933-1934 he received diplomas in painting and decorative painting, In 1935 he went to Paris on a scholarship, and in 1936 settled permanently in London. Beginning in 1937, he exhibited his works, including at the Leger Gallery. He was a co-founder of the Association of Polish Artists in Great Britain. Marek Zulawski's works have been exhibited many times in Poland and abroad. [bio after: Museum of World War II].
