1942 Lublin Castle Prison Untersuchungsgefangnis.
A prison established in early November 1939.It was located in Lublin Castle, under the command of the SS and Police of the Lublin District. In the network of prisons of the Lublin District, it played a central role. More than 2,500, and at some times as many as 3,000, were incarcerated in the prison for about 700 people. The prison had 56 cells, including 11 for women. Prisoners were executed en masse by firing squad in the prison courtyard, and death row prisoners were also hanged (in a shed behind the prison chapel).
The offered card comes from a period when correspondence was very limited. The card is sent from Otwock near Warsaw by a daughter to her mother imprisoned in the Lublin Castle.
Of special note is the handwritten censorship!
