Wladyslaw Ludwik Gubrynowicz - a.k.a. "Wladyslaw Bialy" [1836-1914] - bookseller, publisher, economic and social activist. In 1868, the Gubrynowicz & Schmidt Publishing House was founded, in which Wladyslaw was responsible for publishing matters, and Schmidt was in charge of bookstores, general stores and administration. In 1882, after the purchase of the bookstore and book lending business of Karol Wild, it was one of the largest book and sheet music lenders in Galicia.
