Plaque in embossed silvered copper. 8,4 x 5,8 x 0,7 cm

This little high-relief shows us a Christ standing up next to the column. He is joined by a legionnarie, who appears on the right and is holding his cloak.
The Christ resembles ancient statues in physical prowess and nobility. He is holding the palm branch, symbolizing the martyr.

The plaque is a goldsmithing item that features some fine chiselling: see the edges of the cloak and the way the column is decorated. In such a small space the scene that unfold before us is revealed in its full capacity and three-dimensionality.
