Alfred Żmuda (1897-1966), legionary and prominent representative of the Krakow artistic community (painter, draughtsman, illustrator). Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (student of Jozef Mehoffer). His illustrations appeared on the covers of adventure books, postcards and in newspapers (especially in the Illustrated Daily Courier). Creator of the graphic layout of the Decade of Poland Reborn.
The offered collection consists of a series of boards (rotogravures) with religious themes. It is a kind of pictorial catechesis, which introduced the biblical story of mankind's salvation. Beginning with the creation of the world, through the sins of the first people (Adam and Eve, Cain), the activities of Israel's religious and political leaders (Joseph, David) and the life of Jesus Christ. Some refer to articles of the Creed (Apostle's Creed).
