BERNACIŃSKI Stefan - I Meždunarodnyj Festival Sovremennoj Muzyki. Polša, Varšava. 1956.
Music poster form. 98.8x67.8 cm. Typographic composition on a black background. Russian-language poster for the first edition of the Warsaw Autumn, the largest in Poland and one of the most important festivals in the world devoted to contemporary music.
"The idea of organizing the festival originated in 1955, at the forum of the Association of Polish Composers. The originators were Tadeusz Baird and Kazimierz Serocki. Their intention was to familiarize Polish audiences with modern Western music and to break the isolation in which Polish artistic circles found themselves during the Stalinist years, as well as to oppose the ideology of socialist realism. The main program objectives were to present new world and Polish music, to support the development of Polish music and to present current trends present in music. The first festival lasted from October 10 to 20, 1956, coinciding with the October political thaw in Poland" (Wikipedia).
