Biography
He was a graphic designer, painter, draughtsman and architect. He studied architecture at the Wroclaw University of Technology and painting and graphic design at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. Initially, he worked on posters, painting, illustration and advertising graphics. In the 1970s, he collaborated with the STU Theater in Cracow. Since 1983 he has been creating set designs (mainly for S. Beckett Theater in New York), followed by multimedia experiments (e.g. 1988 for the Grateful Dead band a set design with 52 banners 27x 68 m animated by the light of 440 spotlights. He did the set design for Handel's "Messiah" staged at the Vatican for the 250th anniversary of the work. In the 1990s, he created multimedia performances in Japan, such as "Eyes." He made the design of the Tower of Light for Abu Dhabi (a 157-meter-high glass obelisk to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates). He prepared the design for the giant multimedia spectacle Kraków 2000.
