Biography
Wieslaw Smetek is an illustrator, graphic designer and painter. Born in 1955 in Poland, he spent 5 years at the High School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz and 5 years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. In 1981, he received a diploma in Graphic Design. Since 1981, he has been working as a freelance illustrator and painter. His specialty is magazine covers. Between 1991 and 2020, he produced more than 1,000 covers and more than 3,000 illustrations for German-speaking editors. In 2014, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg dedicated a solo exhibition to him entitled "Covers and More."
