Ropiecki often used self-portraiture and performance as methods of creative commentary on socio-political issues, as well as those pertaining to everyday life. He often added a textual layer to the visual material as a commentary or manifesto.
BIO
Visual artist, writer, painter. Member of ZPAF. In 1972-1976 he was associated with the photographic group "Format". Later he was active in the Foto-Medium-Art and Permafo galleries. In the 1980s he created as part of the independent art movement Kultura Zrzuty. He also collaborated with Lodz Kaliska. As a protest against the introduction of martial law in Poland, he carried out art projects through the Traveling Gallery MORE LIGHT! He has had many solo and group exhibitions, and his works are in museums and private collections in Europe, the US and Japan.
