The years 1974-1979 are the time of his bunkmateship with independent painters, whose exhibitions he organizes in his apartment. In 1979 he leaves the USSR and emigrates to France. He was the first photographer from the USSR to leave the country taking his archive of photos with him. Since he arrived in Paris, the press all over the world published his reports of everyday life in the Soviet Union. He meets Helmut Newton, who introduces him to Vogue, where he works for the next two years. His photos are published by Paris Match, People, Stern, Life. Fascinated by the possibilities of black-and-white photography, he portrays Paris and the artists who live there. One of the artists Vladimir Sichov photographs is Keith Haring. He has taken many pictures of him in Paris, Berlin and New York. During their last photo session together, Keith Haring took Sichov's camera and marked it with a silver marker. Since then, the camera has become invaluable to the photographer.
